The Creator of the Chukchi

The creator-deity of the Chukchi people of Chukotka — the reindeer-herders and sea-hunters of the far northeastern tip of Siberia, on the very edge of the Arctic and the Bering Strait. This series chronicles Tenanto’mwan, the Creator, the being of the dawn at the head of Chukchi cosmology, closely bound to the great Raven of the northern creation-myths.
